Hockey

Hockey is played as a major girls sport from Year 3, starting with small sided games and progressing to both 7-a-side and 11-a-side matches against other schools. The school regularly puts out teams in all age groups from Year 4 to Year 8 and has a policy of making sure each child, no matter what their ability, plays for the school each term.

The school takes part in tournaments such as the U13 and U11 North Yorkshire Mini Hockey Tournaments, an event in which the U11 team have been placed 3rd in both 2006 ad 2007.

Girls have hockey training on both grass and Astro turf from the age of 7 upwards and are given the opportunity to attend the North Yorkshire Hockey Development Courses which commence at the U12 age group and therefore possible selection for Area and County teams as U14s.
