Cundall Appeal

50 Years Cundall Manor School 1958 - 2008

TO CELEBRATE THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SCHOOL

The Cundall Appeal will be a phased development programme.

Phase I
The first priority is the replacement of existing Portakabins currently forming the Main and Upper School. These will be replaced with permanent buildings which will provide our pupils with first class, comfortable and IT compatible learning facilities.
In addition we would like to create a new purpose-built Computer Design and Technology (CDT) Department to compliment the existing Art Department. Whilst the existing workshop is enjoyed by many pupils the addition of a dedicated centre would mean teaching could be expanded to incorporate the most up to date practises and equipment.
In addition we would like to provide an all weather play surface with canopy for the Pre-Prep. This would allow our younger pupils to enjoy being outdoors at all times of the year, irrespective of the weather.

Phase II
Together with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) we plan to build four new tennis courts. These would primarily be used to encourage and build on the skills of our tennis players and to enable more children to play.
They would also be multi-functional to enable training sessions for hockey, netball, athletics and football and with the addition of floodlighting will mean that sports and evening activities can continue throughout the academic
year.
Boarding at Cundall is popular with many pupils either on a weekly or occasional basis. To add to the enjoyment of boarding at Cundall, we would like to redecorate the dormitories and upgrade the furnishings and facilities.

Phase III
We would like to establish a Pre-Prep library for use by children and their parents. This would incorporate the provision of IT equipment for our younger pupils.

Phase IV
We would like to provide a new purpose built music school which would include practice/teaching rooms, rehearsal area and a recording studio for our musicians. Many children receive tuition at Cundall in a wide range of musical instruments and this improvement would encourage their musical endeavours.

Phase V
Sport is an important part of life at Cundall. We would like to re-lay the existing 1st XI cricket pitch and also lay two new cricket pitches on the adjacent sports fields. This would help the school’s cricketers to develop their talents on first class pitches and also to enable the school’s facilities to be used for representative games including junior county matches.
We also wish to provide an additional storage building for sports equipment, ground maintenance machinery, larger theatrical props and school equipment.
As part of the redevelopment of the classrooms, the shooting range will removed. A new shooting facility will
be built in the grounds. The science department needs a greenhouse for use by pupils throughout the school for the study of plant growth and other experimental work which is now part of the curriculum.

Phase VI
Cundall has always been and always will be a friendly school where whole families are welcome. We would like to provide a large, multi-purpose hall for assemblies, concerts, theatrical productions and the other social and academic events which are organised by the school and local community.
Phasing of these development plans may vary according to specific donations and will be dependant upon gaining the necessary planning consents.

The Cundall Foundation
The Cundall Foundation will be a permanent charitable fund. It will be set up to provide scholarships, bursaries and hardship payments for parents who would not otherwise be able to send their children to Cundall. The school is a registered charity and this Foundation will formalise and extend the school’s charitable work.
Any funds remaining following the development programme will be put into the Cundall Foundation.
