ASRA
We would like to say a big thank you to everybody who supported our Christmas arrangement stall. We raised £700 and all the proceeds will go to ASRA. Also a big thank you to all the children in Miss Chapman's and Mrs Potter's classes who decorated the stall. Romy Prendergast & Lucy Hookway
Last Saturday morning £280 was raised from selling bacon butties. The money will go towards ASRA, the Indian charity Cundall supports. Thank you for all your support, also a huge thank you to Bertie Weber, Philip Fieldhouse, Alex Shepherd and Will Johnson for all their help. JK

Senior House Hockey
The house hockey was played with a great attitude on Saturday. Although the result was obvious from an early stage because of the strong Saxon team all the girls played well. 1st - Saxons, 2nd - Normans, 3rd - Tudors, 4th Stuarts. LW
Hockey v Queen Margaret's School
There were 2 excellent matches played by the U12 and U13 teams on Saturday afternoon. Alice Hookway had a particularly good match and played a very attacking defender and Eloise Evans scored a brilliant first goal. The final scores were 2-2 for the U13 game and a 6-0 win to the U12s. LW
U11 Netball v Terrington Hall won 17-14
A closely contended match in which play was often fast and furious. Cundall moved confidently around court and special mention should go to Phoebe Wade and Philippa Edgar for their consistent defending. Well done.

U10/9 Netball v Woodleigh Drew 6-6
After a clumsy start the girls had an excellent second quarter scoring five goals in quick succession. Unfortunately, Woodleigh persevered scoring four goals in the final quarter. IR
North Yorkshire Mini Hockey Tournament
This tournament was played in bitterly cold conditions and the girls did well to play so well. They won all their matches in their group, scoring 10 goals and conceding only one. However, in the semi finals they were beaten by Ripon Grammar School, although it was really only one of the Ripon players who was particularly quick and our girls were not able to keep tabs on her. Well played girls. LW
U13/U12 Hockey v Woodleigh won 7-3
This was a good match with all the Cundall girls playing extremely well. There was some good stick work and plenty of attacking play. It was lovely to see Hannah Lowry playing in her first match and also scoring a goal.

Boys' Weekly Sports Roundup
- Congratulations to Arron Johnson and Felix Adams who have been selected to represent "The North" against "The South" at rugby from which an England Prep School Barbarians side will be chosen.
- The South African Cricket Tour Squad travelled to Shrewsbury School last weekend to receive some final coaching before departure. It was a wonderful weekend and the boys learnt a huge amount from the experience.
- 1st XI Football v Mowden Hall
The 1st XI produced a comfortable 7-1 victory against Mowden H all yesterday. Early substitutions were made to try and even the game up but the replacements, keen to impress, played well. It will certainly make for a difficult team selection for the upcoming Aysgarth fixture next Wednesday.

CUNDALL 50 APPEAL
Thursday 22nd January, 2009
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year to you all. I hope that you had joyful Christmas holidays with your families and didn't suffer from too many of the horrid bugs that were going around and are now ready for whatever 2009 has to throw at us.
Your support of The Appeal is essential and very much appreciated. Towards the end of last year we held two special events - the sponsored ride and walk at Ribston Estate and the superb Choral Evening at Topcliffe Church with the Cambridge Consort and our own Chamber Choir. If you couldn't go I recommend the superb CD which is available to order from the school office.
This term we have two different kinds of event: We have The Lions Lunch being held at York Racecourse on Thursday 19th March. In anticipation of the tour of South Africa six legendary British Lions Fran Cotton, Jeremy Guscott, Scott Gibbs, Doddie Weir, Paul Wallace and John Bentley will be sharing their experiences and giving their thoughts on this year's tour. Tables are for ten people and are £750 each. Please contact Clare Read on 07711 917375 for more details. Sir Thomas Ingilby has also arranged a wonderful Dinner and Disco at Ripley Castle on the night of Friday 27th February - think Mamma Mia meets High School Musical! An informal evening which is intended to cheer us all up during this dull winter; tickets are priced at £35 each to include supper, children over 14 are welcome at £28 each. Tables will be available to seat ten people and booking forms are available in the school office or contact Clare Read on the above number. We do hope that you will be able to attend one of these events and look forward to seeing you there.
Once again, on behalf of the committee, I would like to thank you all for your encouragement and support of our fundraising Appeal so far.
With best wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Caroline Stanley,
Caroline Stanley
