Parents' Scuba course

Scuba is a popular outdoor pursuit course in the Upper School. A number of pupils in Leckby are well on their way to obtaining their PADI Open Water qualification and pupils in Eldmire  and Thornton have progressed to get their Advanced Open Water as well as Dry Suit speciality.

Last year ‘Overland Underwater' our training provider, ran a ‘parents only' course over two Saturdays. I am proposing that they do the same this year if there is sufficient interest.

Once completed the qualification, which lasts a lifetime, allows you to hire equipment and dive at PADI centres all around the world.  For further details please speak to me in school or e-mail me (djchubb@tiscali.co.uk)                                       DC

U8/U9 Hockey v Terrington

On Wednesday 21st January the U8/U9 girls played in a hockey match against Terrington.   It was the first match for some and due to some solid performances by our girls we won 6-3.                                             AD

Senior House Chess Championship

The house chess was played with considerable skill and determination.  Saxons ruled the board for much of the tournament but some excellent strategy from Will Foster led Stuarts to victory in the final round.  Mark Ramsden, too, was on a roll winning all three of his games.                                                                                CM

U11 Netball against Westville House won 21-10

What a great match for the U11 team demonstrating skill, speed and some fantastic teamwork.  All the girls worked very hard leaving no corner of the court vulnerable.  The defence intercepted assertively whilst the attackers made light work of shooting as goal after goal was added to the scoreboard.   A much improved and hardworking team, I look forward to seeing them put together another top performance in their next match.

U10 Netball against Westville House lost 10-19

The team have a lot of work to do on their defending of players as Westville House proved the far more assertive and determined players.  Well done to Alice Foster and Charlotte Saxby for holding the team together.

On a lovely spring afternoon the football season got into full swing with 7 matches taking place at venues across North Yorkshire.  The 1st XI produced a fantastic performance and earned a well deserved 2-0 victory over rivals Aysgarth with goals coming from Harry Halsall and Felix Adams.  The 2nd XI also recorded an impressive 4-0 win with Isaac Weber (2) and Patrick Johnson and Lewis Levesley getting on the score sheet, whilst the 3rd XI lost a competitive game 2-4. The Under 9 and Under 11 age groups played against Terrington and although matches were keenly contested they went the way of the opposition.

Good luck to all those who are departing for South Africa on Saturday.
