Cundall Pupil In England Call Up

Form 6 pupil Felix Adams has been selected to represent England Barbarians at rugby.  On Sunday he played for "The North" against "The South" at Rugby School in a final selection process.  Despite "The North" losing in the dying seconds Felix has been chosen as Tight Head Prop.  His first game is against Cardiff Schools on 28th March at Glamorgan RFC.  We wish him the very best of luck.

GCSE Chemistry Results

Pupils from Thornton (Year 11) and Eldmire (Year 10) recently sat their Chemistry Module all pupils passed this included 8 A*s.  Fantastic results well done.

 Cross country Event at Woodleigh

On Friday 6th March, 5 teams of 6 went to Woodleigh to take part in their annual cross country competition.  All of the children involved put in maximum effort on a tough course.  Fifteen schools took part on the day and Cundall students represented us well:

U13 girls - 4th place

U13 boys - 4th place

U11 Girls - 5th place

U11 Boys - 2nd place

In the mixed U9s we came a magnificent 1st , beating the competition by some margin.  Special mention should go to Harry Hill and Ella Eadon for coming 1st in their events.

Joint Winners

On Saturday morning the 1st VII rugby team proved that they are the best team in the Hambleton & District Area. The boys successfully progressed through the group with victories against Allertonshire, Stokesley and Risedale.  In the final we faced Richmond.  In a very physical encounter the boys kept their cool, produced some superb sevens and deservedly ran out winners 19-5.

Wednesday saw Cundall host its annual Under 9 Rugby Tournament. With 16 teams from across the North of England it proved to be quite a spectacle, with the quality of rugby of the highest standard. In the group stages Cundall defeated Terrington Hall, St Marys' Hall and Ghyll Royd. This put us into a quarter final against Barnard Castle which the boys controlled winning 15-5. The semi final against St Olaves, York was a game of passion and commitment between two talented teams. A tight encounter was settled by a single try and sent Cundall through to the final. Here we faced St Martins Ampleforth and after conceding the first try the boys battled back to level the scores just before full time. This meant the trophy would be shared. Well done to the boys who should be proud of their effort.

U12 Area Netball Tournament

The girls had an excellent tournament and scored 55 goals in five matches.  There were twelve teams taking part and they should be very proud of coming in third place.                                           LW
