U10 Rounders Tournament @ Harrogate Ladies College

Cundall Manor was one of the teams at the tournament.  The team won its section, went on the beat Terrington Hall in the Semi Finals and then in an extremely tense and close match beat Queen Mary's in the Final.  The girls played very well with some exceptional fielding and mature game play especially as three of the squad were from the U9 age group.

Another busy week! On Sunday the 1st XI were winners of the Pocklington 6-a-side tournament, the first time the school has won the trophy since 1994. Through the day there were some powerful team batting displays including scoring 108 in 36 balls as the side remained unbeaten through the day.

The 1st XI then gave me the best birthday present yesterday, victory over Aysgarth! A fine 95 from Felix, helped with some good hitting in the down order, allowed us to achieve 182 for 8 in 35 overs. Aysgarth lost early wickets but kept going well eventually ending only 7 runs short.  The 2nd XI and 3rd XI both lost to the same opposition with batting frailties exposed in both games. The U11A produced a fine 7 wicket win with runs from Alex Gill and Alex Pepper securing victory. The two Under 9 games were shared with the A's putting up much better resistance and the B's comfortable victors.

The U12s have reached the final of the North Yorkshire Cup with a semi-final win against Easingwold and the U14 team have reached the 5th Round of the Lords Taverners Competition with a hard victory against St Aidans.

The staff also remain unbeaten in 2009 as Mr Shepherd's experience along with Mr Townsend's youth helped us to an exciting last over win against the Form 6 parents led by Mr Gill.

With 2 weeks of term remaining the school cricket teams remain in 4 cups. We may still be playing in September!       JSa

Adventurers Talk - Tuesday 30th June

Mr Gostlo will be coming in to talk to the children about his cycle ride from Japan to England.

Tennis

The Red Tournament sadly was rained off, but Pocklington School came despite the rain and Cundall won 4-2.  The U12s played against the Academy.  Thomas Kayll, Jake Wilson, Henry Bartle and Tomas Jamieson played extremely well and every set was very close we drew, well done.  The Orange team also played on Sunday, Robbie Webster, Tom House, Harry Tribe and George Fordy beat Wetherby Tennis Club 4-2.
