Note to Form 6 Parents
We look forward to welcoming Form 6 parents to the Leavers' Service at Cundall Church on Friday 10th July, please note however that the service will start at 10.00 a.m. rather than the time published in the Calendar.
DON'T FORGET - FORMAL WEAR ON FRIDAY 10TH (LAST DAY OF TERM).
School Blazers - Pink Braid
All Pre-Prep and Main School pupils must be in braided blazers in September. Any blazers still without the pink braid can be brought into school on Monday 27th July between 10.00 a.m. and 12 noon to be sent off to the seamstress. Blazers must be cleaned and properly named. This service will cost £20 per blazer and is only available for navy blue blazers. The blazers will be available for collection on the first day of term (Tuesday 8th September).
Blue Cords
Our suppliers have reassured us that the cords will be delivered to school at the end of August. They will therefore be available to collect from the School Shop on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th September between 2.00 and 4.00 p.m.
French Trip
All Form 5 pupils should have brought home a letter regarding the French trip in October. Please check this has found its way to you! The balance in now due. Many thanks, Madame Hunzinger.
Languages Day
Next Tuesday (7th July) is Languages Day and, as usual, all pupils should come dressed up in their chosen fancy-dress costume, with a French, Spanish or Roman theme. As usual, prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. It should be a fun-packed morning with visiting dancers, story-tellers, some French sketches performed for us as well as some cultural presentations. During break-time we will be tasting food from around the globe (and the centuries!) and this year it looks as if escargots will find their way onto the menu again. A picture of costume suggestions is on view on the front door of the Main School building.
This year we are also holding an Eiffel tower-building competition. The only rule is that it should be made out of spaghetti (the uncooked variety works better) and prizes will be awarded for the most life-like design. KH
Thank you to all the mums who baked cakes for the Sports Day barbeque and also a special thank you to Caroline Peters for her amazing banoffee pies after the Fathers' v Staff cricket.
Boarding September
There are still a few spaces available for boarding in September, if you would like your child to board please fill in the boarding form and return it to the School Office as soon as possible.
Cake Sale
Congratulations to Lizhi Singleton and her friends on raising £100 at their cake stall last week. This amount will be taken to the Chinese orphanage in November.
School Fees
If you would like to pay your fees by standing order please contact Fiona Saxby on 01423 360911 as soon as possible.
Children's Charity Fancy Dress Ball
A children's Fancy Dress Ball will be held in the Officers' Mess at RAF Linton on Ouse on Saturday 5th September. It is being held to raised money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Combat Stress. For more information please visit www.charityfancydressball.co.uk or contact Jenny Mewes on 01347 844131.
Congratulations to Freddy Welford who has qualified to compete in the Horse of the Year Show in October and the Royal International Horse Show in July.

Main School Disco - Thursday 9th July - 7.30 - 9.00
This year we will be serving hot dogs and drinks at the start of the evening as we are aware that it is a rush to get children fed before returning them to school.
The ticket price, including food and drink will be £3.00 (we will still be running the ever-popular sweet stalls). There will be a ‘Prom' theme to this year's event, along with some surprises which will make the evening extra-special for all our leavers. All Main School children are most welcome.

U1/11 Rounders v Ripon Choir School won 6½ -25
The team seriously outclassed Ripon choir in both fielding and batting. It was wonderful to see the Captain Thea Jennings on form as she scored ten rounders.
U11 and U10 Rounders v Brackenfield School
It was a disappointing afternoon of rounders with weak opposition meaning that there was little competition for our girls. The results were: U11s won 18½ - 8, U10s won 21 - 8½

With many of the Under 13 group busy climbing Ben Nevis it was left to the Under 12s to take the lime light this week! On Monday they played Ripon Grammar School in the final of the North Yorkshire Cup. Having been asked to bat first the team posted 98 from their 20 overs with 2 Under 11s, James Botham and George Bentley amongst the runs. In reply the Grammar School started positively but 2 key dismissals turned the tide. Firstly Hugo and a County player caught behind and then James Botham dismissed former Cundall pupil George Foster. With 12 needed off the last over and one or two fraught onlookers James Botham kept his nerve restricting the Grammar School to 5 and allowing the Under 12s to emulate the Under 13s and become County Champions. They now play QEGS in the Yorkshire Semi Final at Cundall on Tuesday at 11am.
The Under 12s continued their impressive run with victory at Giggleswick with Jake Wilson and Sam Gell amongst the runs before Oli Proctor and Toby Bell saw Cundall over the line.
The Under 11s proved too strong for Terrington. The "As" won by 9 wickets with Alex Gill 36 n.o. and Alex Pepper 29 n.o. The "Bs" won a pairs game by 60 runs and the "Cs" managed to defeat Aysgarth in a hastily arranged game.
Finally the Under 9s continue to improve with a 125 run victory over Terrington.
Good luck to the Under 14s on Friday as they play Kingstone from Barnsley in the Lords Taverners Cup and to the Under 12s next Tuesday. J.Sample
