Holiday Diaries - a message from the Headmaster

Dear Parents

Sarah and I were overwhelmed with the wonderful holiday diaries. The work, writing, drawing and details were all superb.

The diaries were beautifully written with some very humorous tales. Thank you to all parents and children for sharing your holiday experiences with us. These diaries are mementoes to be treasured.

Happy Cats Concert

A huge thank you to all those who supported the Happy Cats concert on Sunday. The weather was fantastic, the new school band was excellent, and we raised a stunning £1,950.  On Monday we received the following e-mail message from the Happy Cats:

Hello Cundall Manor

It was great to meet you guys on Sunday, and we all enjoyed playing ‘Cundall Manor. It was a lovely afternoon, and judging by today, we were certainly blessed with the weather! We thought the school band were great; good to see them enjoying their gig. Lead singer great voice and excellent back up from everyone else.

Thanks to all involved for setting the whole thing up and I hope we can do something for you again in the future.

Cheers

Marty Craggs

Mr D Sladden

I am delighted to inform you that Mr Dan Sladden begins his training this term for ordination in the Church of England as a non-stipendiary minister. Alongside a variety of practical work, this includes three years of study for a degree in Theology and Pastoral Studies at Leeds University, which Dan will undertake alongside his commitments to Cundall. We all wish him well and good luck.

Congratulations to Olivia and JJ Foster who represented Bedale Pony Club in the National Endurance Championships in Bedfordshire last weekend. Covering 33km in just over 3 hours, the Bedale team took First Place. On an individual basis Olivia came 4th and JJ 1st.  JJ is now the national Pony Club Senior Endurance Champion 2009.

Apologies to Quentin England, who passed his Grade 2 violin, (not Grade 1 as reported last week)

The senior boys found life tough at Durham School on Saturday. The 1st XV, after a slow start, managed to win the second half but eventually lost 29-41. The 2nds & 3rds battled valiantly but without success. The Under 11A team produced an excellent comeback from 14-0 down to win 21-14. The U9s continued their successful start running in 10 tries while recording victory over Terrington and the Under 11Cs lost a well contested game which means every boy in Forms 3 & 4 has now played for the school this term.

On Friday the Under 11A's unbeaten record is put to the test when we entertain a touring side from Kings School, Worcester.

Excellent results but still a lot of work on in a number of areas. Miss Morgan Williams says that footwork needs to be improved with the U11 netball.

The U13 girls were a little casual and weak on marking at Red House but overall some good goals.
