VIVALDI GLORIA - Saturday 21st November, 2009

Following the success of the wonderful Faure last year, we are delighted to announce that once again the fabulous Cambridge Chamber Consort will be performing, in aid of the Cundall Appeal, at St Columba's Church, Topcliffe on Saturday 21st November. Our Chamber Choir will also be joining them to sing and the performance will include a selection of choral and close harmony favourites.

The concert will start at 7.30 pm and tickets are priced at £10 each.  Wine and soft drinks will be available during the interval.  Tickets are available from the school office or on the door.

We apologise for an error in last week's newsletter. In the U11B rugby v St Mary's Hall match report. One of the tries was attributed to the wrong player. The tries were in fact scored by Jack Stabler-Langan and Herbie Milton. We are sorry for any distress caused.

Ladies Lunch

There are still a number of tickets available for the Ladies Lunch on Thursday 15th October, if you are interested in buying one for yourself, or a friend, please contact the school office as soon as possible.  Tickets cost £30.00.  It should be great fun with Tricia Stewart 'Calendar Girl' as Guest Speaker.

Skateboarders

All children using the skateboard park must wear helmets, knee pads and elbow pads. They will not be allowed into the park without the correct safety wear.

Cake Stall

The Friends will be selling cakes at pick-up time on Friday 16th October (when we break up for half term) if anyone is able to make a cake we would be very grateful.

Pumpkin Competition

Many thanks to everyone who entered this year's pumpkin competition. We had a bumper crop of entries! All the pumpkins have now been weighed, measured and assessed and Mr P will be announcing the winners next week.                              SH

Swimming Gala v Brackenfield Friday 9th October

Just a reminder that Brackenfield have cancelled this gala.

Harvest Festival Thanks

Our thanks to everyone who attended our Harvest Festival Services last week and who donated harvest gifts. The collection raised £178 for the church; the produce has been delivered to Barnardo's in Ripon.

Fantastic Ski Opportunity

We have put a deposit on a Chalet in Tignes at the same time as the School Ski Trip (2nd - 9th January 2010) which we have not been able to fill.  We are therefore offering this to parents/families, the chalet sleeps 14 (7 twin rooms).  It is a very comfortable chalet and conveniently located -  it is a short walk to the ski lift.

The cost per head is £700 which includes return flights from Leeds Bradford to Chambery and full board at the chalet.  This price does not include Ski hire, Ski pass or Ski school.

If you are interested please contact the school office as soon as possible.  All 14 places have to be sold.

Saturday Activities - Hockey 10th October

There will be only one Astro session as there are 2 hockey matches in the morning and no Form 6 girls. This Astro session will be for any girls who wish to come and will leave school at 9.30am.                                                                                LW

Congratulations to the Upper School rugby team who won their first fixture of the season against Ashville College
