Forms 1 and 2 Informal Music/Poetry Evening
On Thursday evening, 15th October, we were treated to a wonderful evening's entertainment by Forms 1 and 2. All of the children either recited a poem, played their musical instrument or sang. There was a lovely variety of both fun and serious poems and music ranging from vocal duets, to guitar, violin, piano, saxophone and cornet solos. The children performed with great confidence and clearly enjoyed presenting the evening to a very appreciative audience. Congratulations to all children in Forms 1 and 2.

FORM SIX AND THE FRENCH INVASION
My angle on the French trip, by Alexander Cavadias.
Form 6 set off from school in high spirits on 4 October to make the long journey by coach to Chateau Baudonnière via Portsmouth and Ouistreham. It was well worth it because we all had an excellent week away and will treasure many wonderful memories for some time to come.
We laughed, some of us not all the time (those of us not tucked up in bed and fast asleep whilst introducing abseiling to the curriculum at the dead of night!); we had fun, we learned more French and at the same time learned first hand about the D Day landings and the sacrifices made by so many young people in the Second World War.
Chateau de la Baudonniere is, as the name suggests, a wonderful French chateau set in its own grounds and offering a host of brilliant activities ranging from climbing and archery to fencing and bread making, cooking and a very damp assault course, as well as introducing us to beat boxing and a certain chap called Stouf!
The brilliant Maddie did us proud in the talent competition - sorry the rest of us couldn't compete Maddie and we all promise to practise our singing in the bath!
What a brilliant way to learn French: we visited the local market town, stocked up with breakfasts of pain au chocolat and tried our hand at using our euros, as well as visiting the extremely unusual and interesting island of Le Mont St Michel. This is an island when the tide is in but, thankfully, Madame Hunzinger had her eye on the tide clock and we made it back to the mainland in time for tea.
It was my first trip to the Normandy landing beaches and whilst it was extremely interesting, informative and exciting, it made us all reflect and think about those who died trying to protect our way of life.
Special thanks must go to Mr P, Mr Townsend, Miss Galland and of course Madame Hunzinger for organising and helping us on the trip.
Christmas Wreath Making Mornings
Friends are delighted to announce that Jane Kearle has very kindly offered to host two of her fabulous Christmas wreath making sessions again this year. They will be held on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd December at Clare Read's house in Walshford. The sessions will run from 9 until 12 noon (ish) and places cost £30 which covers everything you need to create your wreath as well as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, mince pies and chocolate brownies. There are only 20 places on each day so please telephone Clare on 07711 917375 to book your place.
Access to classrooms
Anything required over the weekend from pupils' classrooms must be taken on a Friday evening. The classrooms are locked each Friday and will not be unlocked until the following Monday. No pupils will be allowed access to classrooms (other than those in use) during Saturday morning activities.
Nestle Box Tops for Books
We are collecting Box Top tokens from Nestle cereal packets. We can redeem these tokens against Dorling Kindersley books. Please post your cereal box tops in the box in the school foyer.
Christmas Cards
All Pre-Prep and Main School pupils are designing their own Christmas Card in art lessons. If you would like your child's design to be made into actual Christmas Cards please complete the form they have brought home with them, and return it with a cheque made payable to Cundall Manor School, to form teachers by Friday 6th November. The few children who participated in the scheme last year produced some fantastic cards and managed to raise £175 for the school at the same time.
NB. Completed forms and cheques must be returned by 6th November - they cannot be processed after this date.
Wear Bright for Sight
Thank you to everyone who wore their brightest mufti just before half term. We raised £261 for Henshaw's, Yorkshire.
