Karate Grading

On Saturday 28th November, four members of the Karate Club took their 5th kyu blue belt examination under the eyes of Sensei Tony Court (7th Dan). All four passed with a ‘first class' grade. Sensei was particularly impressed with their fighting spirit.  Congratulations to Josh Hall, Sara Hall, Matthew Ford and Lewis Hernaman. Congratulations too to Ben Mewes who received the first of our ‘Student of the Week' awards.                                                                                                                                                  DR

Congratulations to the following three boys who have been selected to play for Hambleton and Richmondshire in the North Yorkshire U13 Trials this Sunday: Harry Halsall (Outside Centre), James Bottomley (Scrum Half) and George Barker (2nd Row).                                                                           JSa

Pre-Prep Pantomime Wednesday 9th December

Pre-prep parents may drop children off from 8.15 a.m. on Wednesday but please vacate the car park by 8.30 to allow room for the coaches to park.

School Uniform Shop

School hats and scarves are now available from the school shop. Due to the sell-out popularity of the Cundall hair accessories at the Christmas fair, these are also now available from the school shop.

U9 Cundall Manor Rugby Tournament

Yesterday we hosted 16 teams in the Cundall Manor U9 Rugby Tournament. Congratulations to our own A team who saw off some strong competition in the form of Barnard Castle, St Mary's Hall, Moorlands, Terrington and, in the semi-final, St Martin's Ampleforth. Unfortunately bad light prevented both the ‘Golden Try' in the parallel semi-final and the final itself. Cundall therefore share the Champions' trophy with Hymers and Bronte House.                                                                                                                   JSa

Forms 1 and 2 Production of 'Red Riding Hood', Thursday 10th December

Please could parents be aware that they should pick their children up from school at 5.00 p.m. and bring them to the Galtres Centre Easingwold by 6.30 p.m. to get changed into their costumes, ready for curtain up at 7.00p.m.  Thursday night boarders will be taken to the theatre by a member of staff.                              SV

Main School Christmas Disco, Friday 4th December

All main school pupils are invited to the Christmas Disco this Friday. Entry is £1 on the door. Please bring pocket money for the tuck stall as well.

Cricket Nets, Friday 4th December

Due to the disco in the gym, there will be no cricket nets this Friday.

D of E Bronze Training

Eldmire had their first expedition training on Saturday for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. To save unnecessary time on travel we decided on a lowland walk in the Crimple Valley near Harrogate. After the previous week's torrential rain we were pleasantly surprised that the sun shone. However the ground underfoot was exceptionally muddy. As if to prove the point Mrs Heyes managed to fall over her own feet and take a mud bath while waiting for the rest of the group to cross a stile!

Mr Kempton organised plenty of games and activities including pacing 100 metres and walking on a compass bearing.  Various different members of Eldmire were appointed as navigators for individual sections of the route. We hope the whole day will encourage them to feel they can navigate on their own on the "real" expedition.                                                                                                                     GH

Pre-Prep Car Park Safety

Will all parents using the Pre-Prep car park ensure their children do not cross the car park unaccompanied.  There have been one or two near misses recently when children have been beckoned across the car park by waiting parents.

As the evenings draw in, it is VITAL that children are collected in person and escorted through the car park (and moving vehicles) by an adult.
