Form 3&4 Production - Costumes

Costumes for this play are very straight forward! Please could the boys wear their school trousers and a white shirt plus a tie of their choice. If they are in a dormitory scene the boys will also need a dressing gown. Girls need to wear grey school skirt and white shirt with a tie of their choice. (Skirts and shirts can be found in most supermarkets for no more than £5.) The girls could also wear bright tights (think St Trinians!). I shall speak to individual parents about costumes for the adult roles. We also need an alarm clock that will make a lot of noise when activated. Does anyone have one we could borrow please? Many thanks

SV

One of our lions is missing!

The Latin reading Competition takes place next Wednesday and we desperately need a lion costume. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the school lion outfit, or can lend a costume for next week's event, can let please let the school office know.

PK

Outside activities during the school day.

May we remind parents that pupils should not be taken out of school to pursue other interests without seeking prior permission. Not only do unexpected absences impact on an individual child's learning, they have a detrimental effect on the many sports fixtures and team activities we arrange.

Fundraising whilst shopping - it couldn't be easier

Did you know that every purchase you make on line could be earning money for our school?

Hundreds of our favourite retailers have signed up to buy.at/.com, promising to pay a percentage of their profit margin to participating charities. And as one such charity, Cundall Manor School, could be benefitting from this scheme. All you have to do, when shopping for your favourite brands, is place your order on-line via the buy.at/.com website. It doesn't cost you any more.  But it does help us buy more for our school.

You may be surprised just how many big retailers are supporting this initiative. Names like BT, M&S and Ebay and Amazon. Please take a look at www.buy.at/friendsofcundall.

Judo 18th March

Because of the reduced numbers (Form 3and 4 will be involved in their production) there will be just one judo session, for everyone who does Judo, on Thursday 18th March, from 5.15pm to 6.15pm

Cricket Nets Friday 19th March

Due to the Wine Tasting Evening, there will be no cricket nets on Friday 19th March

Are You a Wine Buff or Wine Bluffer?

Do you know your oloroso from your orvieto?

Your chelois from your chardonnay?

Or your bardolino from your barbaresco?

Does Mr Pearson...?

Or Mr Turner...?

Or indeed Mr P...!

Come and judge for yourself at the Friends of Cundall Call My Bluff Wine Tasting

on Friday 19th March, 7.30pm

Sample the range of hand picked wines from around the world and decide which of our panels is telling the truth, and which is bluffing.

Tickets are now on sale from the school office, £15 each, including supper

U13 Mini Hockey

The U13 girls went to the Yazoo Minis North East England Hockey Tournament on Monday 1st March at Wakefield School. They played extremely well and were the only school not beaten by Wakefield High School for Girls, who were the eventual winners. They came 3rd overall and did not actually lose a match. Well done.

U11 Mini Hockey

The U11 girls team went to the North East England Tournament at Leeds Grammar on Wed 3rd March. They played 4 matches and beat Silcotes 4-0, Durham High 5-0, Kings (Tyne and Wear) 2-1 and lost 2-0 to the eventual winners Hymers School. They finished in 2nd place and now go to the North of England finals at Leeds University on the 19th March. A tremendous achievement girls. Well done.

Trials

Six U15 girls from Upper School attended the U16 Hambleton and Richmond Area Hockey trials on Tuesday and three were selected for the Area squad of 15. These girls were: Olivia Foster, Alicia Kayll and Alex Willis. Well played girls.

Oakham Netball Tournament, Sunday 10th March

The U12 netball match has been cancelled.

1st VII Ruby

In the second tournament of the season Cundall collected their second piece of silverware.  After a slow start against RGS Newcastle we won our two other group games against Mowden Hall and Caldicott, this put us into the quarter finals of the plate competition.  Victories over Barnard Castle, Packwood Haugh and St Martin's Ampleforth in the final saw Cundall collect the plate.  Hopefully the boys will not repeat their slow start in future tournaments, nevertheless they played extremely well.                                                                        JSa
