Karate
On Saturday 13th March, the karate club held two grading examinations.
At beginner level, red belts were awarded to Noah Hale, James Botham and Harry Whitworth. Well done boys.
Four members took their purple belt exams and passed with first class honours. Congratulations to Mrs Sara Hall, Josh Hall, Matthew Ford and Lewis Hernaman.
Sensei Court (Senior Instructor) was particularly impressed with the spirit and determination of the candidates, and the controlled fighting they demonstrated (although Mrs Hall did wade into son Josh rather enthusiastically at times!).
Easter Egg Competition
The judging of the Easter Egg Competition will take place next Friday (19th March). Entries will be accepted up until 9.00am on the day. We look forward to seeing your magnificent masterpieces coming in!
Rugs please!
Our thanks to those parents who have very generously donated rugs for our Mongolian yurt. The yurt is a magnificent structure and an exciting new teaching space for the school. Its wool and felt lining means it can be used all year round, and the floor will benefit from as many draft-proofing rugs as we can get hold of. If there are any more spare rugs out there - any size, shape or colour- we will gratefully accept them.

The ‘Trebuchet’ Challenge
Can anyone planning to enter this competition please let me know so I have some ideas of how many teams to cater for. Please e-mail me at cjlloyd_uk@btinternet.com
The competition is to build a car powered only by an elastic band. Points will be awarded for distance travelled, speed, adherence to course (does it travel in a straight line!), and design.
Th only restrictions are that the power must be from bona fide elastic bands (not strips from inner tubes or similar) and that the car must be self-propelling – the elastic bands cannot be used to ‘catapult’ the car
Groups are restricted to a maximum of 4 pupils but adult help is allowed. Suggestions for designs can be found on the following websites:
www.youthiddeas.co.uk/yw/act/car/index.shtml
